The American Composers Orchestra is offering a career development workshop for composers on Friday, June 23 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the DiMenna Center in Manhattan. Previously only available to participants in the ACO’s Underwood New Music Readings, ACO has added a limited number of spaces for aspiring composers. Industry leaders will speak about copyright and commission agreements, music preparation, promotion, fundraising, and other topics. Presenters and panelists include Bill Holab, principal, Bill Holab Music; Ed Yim, president, American Composers Orchestra; composer and pianist Timo Andres; composer Julia Adolphe; Carol Ann Cheung, manager of marketing and public relations, Boosey & Hawkes; Frank J. Oteri, composer advocate and founder, New Music Box; Kathy Schuman, vice president of artistic programming and executive producer, Caramoor; Jedediah Wheeler, executive director of arts and cultural programming for Peak Performances at Montclair State University; and Andrew Byrne, artistic director of Symphony Space.
