“Two more stars were added Sunday to the South Texas Music Walk of Fame,” writes Natalia Contreras in Sunday’s (4/10) Corpus Christi Caller-Times (Texas). “At 75 years old, opera singer Helen Erwin Donath, of Corpus Christi, was the 75th inductee along with the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra as the 74th. Since 2004 the South Texas Music Walk of Fame has inducted new stars every year on the first week in June…. Donath and the symphony were recognized to facilitate previous seasonal opera commitments for Donath, who lives in Germany, and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra…. Donath and symphony members and about 50 people joined in a ribbon-cutting at the Water Street Market.” Lynn Haueter, who was named executive director of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra on April 8, said, “These past 70 years are a very special legacy. To be honored in this way by the community is definitely inspiring for all of us.” Longtime Corpus Christi Symphony flutist Diana Sipes said, “It’s fabulous to know that the community supports the symphony. Without an audience there’s no reason for us to play, we need the community to continue to thrive.”
