The Daniel Pearl Foundation, along with honorary committee members Itzhak Perlman, Ida Haendel, Yefim Bronfman, Yo-Yo Ma, Steve Reich, Zubin Mehta, and George Pehlivanian, have issued an invitation for orchestras to participate in the 8th annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days, a global network of events intended to promote peace and understanding through music. This year’s World Music Days will be held October 1-31, a period that coincides with Daniel Pearl’s birthday, October 10. A journalist and avid musician, Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2001 while serving as South Asia bureau chief of The Wall Street Journal. Orchestras can register their October events at www.danielpearlmusicdays.org. World Music Days is an awareness-raising initiative, not a fund-raising project, and there is no fee for participation.
