The Des Moines Symphony Academy has announced a new collaboration with the Des Moines Area Suzuki Institute. Beginning this fall, DASI, as the institute is known, and the Academy will collaborate to provide instruction to students in the Suzuki method of string education. Des Moines Symphony musicians on the faculty of the program will include first violinists Patti Ruisch and Danna Pins; principal violist Sherida Josephson; and cellists Sandra Tatge and Michele Senger. Private lessons with these instructors will continue at their homes, with group classes meeting monthly at the Symphony Academy, located at the Temple for Performing Arts in Des Moines. DASI has been educating string players for more than 25 years in Central Iowa; the seven-year-old Des Moines Symphony Academy offers private lessons, group classes, masterclasses, and chamber ensembles, as well as the four Des Moines Symphony Youth Orchestras.
