The Southwest Symphony Orchestra, based in Palos Heights, Illinois.

In Tuesday’s (10/1) Beverly Review (suburban Chicago, Illinois), an unsigned article states, “The Southwest Symphony Orchestra (SSO) recently announced its 2024-2025 season, ‘Transitions: SSO’s Diamond Jubilee.’ The SSO has been making music for 60 years in the southwest suburbs. This year marks a transition since David Crane, the music director emeritus, has retired. The SSO has had only two conductors in its history, so that is epic. Officials held a search last year, and they are auditioning three conductor finalists this season. Crane will conduct the holiday concerts and the final season concert, where SSO plans to announce its next conductor. The season is built around a diamond theme.” Music director finalists in the season are Brian Dollinger, Benjamin Nadel, and Silas Huff. “The March 2, 2025, concert will feature some of the pieces that were played at the SSO’s inaugural concert in 1964…. The [season’s] final concert, on May 10, which will be conducted by Crane, is ‘Emerald: Cross Keys and Tchaikovsky,’ ” with the Cross Keys Irish Dancers.
