Tenor Plácido Domingo will perform with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia on February 16 at the orchestra’s fundraiser at the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall, conducted by Eugene Kohn. Domingo, who has not performed in Philadelphia for more than 25 years, will be joined at the event by soprano Ana María Martinez; he will also be honored at a private post-performance dinner with the orchestra’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The orchestra, founded by Marc Mostovo in 1964 as Concerto Soloists 16, initially focused on works of the Classical and Baroque periods and commissioned works by American composers; it was renamed the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia in 2000 and now makes its home at the Kimmel Center’s 600-seat Perelman Theater. Ignat Solzhenitzyn has served as the orchestra’s music director since 2004.
