In Thursday’s (2/23) Journal Gazette (Fort Wayne, Indiana), Corey McMaken writes, “Fort Wayne Philharmonic will celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday and honor the 50th anniversary of the Philharmonic Chorus during its 2025-26 season. The season opens Oct. 4 with ‘From Elegance to Decadence,’ featuring James Ehnes on violin. The program of Debussy, Bartók and Brahms will be conducted by music director Andrew Constantine…. Five Masterworks concerts in 2026 will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with the work of American composers starting with ‘American Beauty’ on Jan. 17. The night includes Ferde Grofé’s ‘Grand Canyon Suite’ and features Holly Mulcahy on violin for George S. Clinton’s ‘The Rose of Sonora’ concerto. The program … on Feb. 7 includes Peter Boyer’s ‘Ellis Island: The Dream of America’ and features Joyce Yang on piano for Leonard Bernstein’s Symphony No. 2, ‘The Age of Anxiety.’… The series brings the season to a close May 16 with ‘Big Beethoven & the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Chorus’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.’ The chorus first accompanied the Philharmonic in 1946 to sing the Verdi Requiem with the orchestra.”
