In Wednesday’s (11/19) WATE TV (Knoxville, Tennessee), hosts Lori Tucker and Bo Williams report that Aram Demirjian has extended his contract as music director of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra for four years, making for a 14-year tenure at the orchestra’s helm. Tucker: “The Knoxville Symphony Board of Directors praises Demirjian’s artistic and community-minded vision. He says he’s humbled and energized to be able to continue to serve symphonic music.” Demirjian: “One of the things I love most about being music director here in Knoxville, in a city our size, is just how close you feel to anybody that’s coming to the concerts. There’s a pretty broad awareness of the symphony orchestra here, which is not true for many cities.”
