On Monday, December 8, the League of American Orchestras will present “A New Board Member’s Guide to the Landscape of American Orchestras,” a free webinar designed specifically for incoming members of orchestra boards. In the webinar, Simon Woods, President and CEO of the League of American Orchestras, and Doug Hagerman, the League’s immediate past board chair and former Chair of the Milwaukee Symphony, will provide an overview of the field, covering recent national trends, current opportunities, and challenges orchestras face. They’ll also dive into aspects of governance unique to orchestras, like managing complex leadership models and multiple stakeholder groups. And they will show how the League’s resources can support orchestra board members and connect board members to a vibrant network of orchestras across the country. The League received great feedback about last year’s new board member orientation and has incorporated the comments to make this an even more useful and relevant session.

“A New Board Member’s Guide to the Landscape of American Orchestras” takes place on Monday, December 8, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time/11:00 a.m. Pacific Time. The webinar is presented free of charge for League members and non-members alike. If you can’t attend the webinar live, register to receive the recording. Questions?
