Montana’s Great Falls Symphony.
In Tuesday’s (8/11) KRTV News (Great Falls, Montana), Tim McGonigal reports, “It’s a year of transition for the Great Falls Symphony. Not only is the search on for a new conductor and music director, but they’re also recruiting some new musicians. However, the orchestra isn’t skipping a beat. They’ve brought in a familiar face to lead the changes. Gordon Johnson was music director of the Great Falls Symphony. Johnson: ‘I was music director for the Great Falls Symphony for 35 years.’ He led the orchestra from the early ’80s to 2017. When Grant Harville moved on after eight years at the helm, drawing on Johnson’s expertise was almost a no-brainer…. Johnson has been brought on as an artistic advisor as the symphony searches for a new leader.” The segment includes commentary from Executive Director Hillary Shepherd, and names the music director finalists.
