Friday (8/3) on the University of Wisconsin Green Bay news site, Kelly McBride reports, “The Green Bay Symphony Orchestra has moved its offices to the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 2420 Nicolet Drive. Officials with the University and GBSO are lauding the move as a key step in the signature venue’s revitalization plan, one element of which calls for closer collaboration with community and other arts groups. It’s also a logical logistical move, since the bulk of GBSO’s concerts are performed at the Weidner, officials say. … The GBSO has two full-time and seven part-time employees, and until recently occupied office space in downtown Green Bay. … The GBSO has a rich history, and is preparing to inaugurate its 99th season with an Opening Night concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Weidner Center. The Symphony Orchestra’s relocation is part of an overall Weidner Center revitalization plan that includes additional opportunities for various community organizations, K-12 educational programming and UW-Green Bay faculty and students.”
