
Hannu Lintu.
The Singapore Symphony Orchestra has appointed Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu as Music Director, with his three-year term beginning in the 2026-27 season. He will succeed Hans Graf, who concludes his tenure with the 2025-26 season. Lintu has led orchestras and opera companies in the U.S. and abroad and has held positions including chief conductor of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet, music director of the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Choir, artistic partner of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, and chief conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has championed new works and revived lesser-known compositions, in addition to leading core repertoire. A regular guest conductor with orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Tokyo Metropolitan, Boston Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony, and London Philharmonic, his recent debuts have included concerts with the New York Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic as well as a production of Pelléas et Mélisande with the Bayerischer Staatsoper. Lintu will conduct the SSO for two weeks in the 2025-26 season as guest conductor and music director-designate.
