Michigan’s Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra has released a long-range strategic plan, to be implemented during the next three to five years. The plan, conducted in partnership with Arts Consulting Group, included an in-depth community survey. Among initiatives of the plan: offer a diverse array of concerts; enhance the orchestra’s education programs and community partnerships, serving ages preschool to adult; increase financial support for KSO programs, grow audiences, and develop an engaged board and volunteer base; create a more resilient organization by strengthening the workforce, improving stakeholder reporting, and communications; and celebrate the orchestra’s 100th-anniversary season in 2020-21 with events and initiatives that deepen the community’s connection with the orchestra and assure financial stability for the future. The orchestra’s current president and CEO is Peter Gistelinck, and its music director is Raymond Harvey.
