The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra in Massachusetts has appointed Kara E. McEachern as executive director, effective March 1, 2025. McEachern, who has worked at the Plymouth Philharmonic since 2017, succeeds longtime Executive Director Kim Corben. McEachern began as the orchestra’s office manager, later becoming director of operations, in which role she managed concert production, fundraising, audience engagement, and strategic planning. A native of New Bedford, MA, McEachern holds a B.A. in Arts Administration from Wagner College, where she served as tour manager for the Wagner College Choir and interned with the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and Educational Tour Bus. A trained vocalist, she has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Fenway Park, and TD Garden, where she has sung the national anthem for the Boston Bruins and Red Sox. McEachern is music director at St. Francis of Assisi Church in New Bedford, where she leads the choir and selects music for services. She has held leadership roles in local arts and educational organizations, including her tenure as president of the Southeastern Massachusetts Festival Chorus.
