The American Composers Forum has announced that Kristopher Kohl Miner has been selected as the first director of the First Nations Composer Initiative (FNCI), a program of ACF dedicated to the encouragement and propagation of American Indian music and musical traditions. Kohl Miner, a playwright and actor who is a native of the Ho-Chunk Nation, previously served as director of development for the Seattle-based performance space On The Boards; the Progressive Animal Welfare Society; and Safehouse, a program that provides housing to homeless individuals with HIV/AIDS. FNCI has been a program of American Composers Forum since 2004. American Composers Forum, based in St. Paul, Minneapolis, supports composers and develops new markets for their work.
