A report Tuesday (5/31) on the Augusta Chronicle online (Georgia) states, “Maestro Shizuo Z Kuwahara has extended his contract with Symphony Orchestra Augusta through the 2014-15 concert season, the organization announced Tuesday. Kuwahara signed a three-year contract in 2009 and has completed two seasons with the orchestra. The original contract was to expire in June 2012, but Kuwahara will now remain on board through June 2015. ‘Z has brought new energy and vision to the SOA, and he truly wants to see that vision become reality,’ said Joseph Huff, the president of the symphony’s board of directors. ‘It is extremely affirming that an artist of Z’s abilities has decided to remain in our community. The next four years will be an exciting time for the SOA and Augusta.’ ”
