“The League of American Orchestras recently held its 2021 virtual conference to take a look at the orchestral landscape after the trials of 2020,” states Judlyne Lilly-Gibson on Friday (6/25) on Staccato, the radio program she hosts on Austin, Texas-based classical radio station KMFA 89.5. The episode focuses on the League’s recent online National Conference, Embracing a Changed World, which highlighted what has been learned during the pandemic, the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion at orchestras, and what the future might look like. The program includes quotes from League President and CEO Simon Woods, Austin Symphony Marketing Director Jason Nicholson, and Philadelphia Orchestra Vice President of Artistic Planning Jeremy Rothman. Staccato host Lilly-Gibson is also a news reporter and anchor for the Maryland News (Radio) Network in Towson, Md., and independently produces the podcast Classical Music in Color.
