Six high school, college, and graduate students from across the country—Anthony Cangemi, Jacob Eddy, Lorin Green, Laiyina Shate, William Tan, and Lauren Zwonik—have been selected to join the League of American Orchestras’ Student Leadership Council for 2024-25. They are providing insights into the League’s strategic thinking, developing content for the student constituency, and helping to create pathways for a new generation of orchestra professionals. Formed in 2023, the Student Leadership Council provides a platform for the League to integrate the voices of young people into its work and support the growth of student engagement within the orchestra field. The students advocate for increased visibility of youth voice and perspective by the League; serve as ambassadors in League academic and orchestral partnership expansion; and collaborate with the League in building inclusive points of entry for diverse and creative young professionals to enter the orchestra field and flourish as leaders. Additionally, Utah-based students Paul Murphy and Megan Rasmussen have been selected to serve as Conference Advisors to the Student Leadership Council, sharing their local knowledge to help plan student constituency meetings and social events for the League’s National Conference in Salt Lake City in June 2025. The two students will also focus on marketing the event and student constituency to Utah-area students. Learn more here.
