Orchestras of all kinds—professional, youth, and community-based—are nurturing the next generation of artists and leaders. By empowering youth, orchestras not only inspire a sense of ownership and belonging for young people but are also learning how to make themselves more relevant today.
On Monday, January 6, the League of American Orchestras will present Youth Engagement and the Future of Orchestras, a 60-minute webinar—free to League members—that explores the strategies used by orchestras to embrace their role in fostering youth engagement. Topics include how to authentically connect with young people, successfully support their development, and harness the power of their fresh ideas to shape the future of orchestras.
In the webinar, experts will delve into insights from the League’s new Catalyst Guide, Youth Engagement and the Future of Orchestras, and provide valuable perspectives and practical tools for engaging with the next generation. Panelists include Daniel Byon, Young Leader Ambassador and Musician, Empire State Youth Orchestra; Rebecca Calos, Executive Director, Empire State Youth Orchestras; Megan Delatour, Artistic Director, Talent Unlimited High School and Interschool Orchestras New York; Suzanne Perrino, Senior Vice President, Learning and Engagement, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra; and Jennifer Teisinger, Executive Director, South Dakota Symphony Orchestra.
Youth Engagement and the Future of Orchestras takes place on Monday, January 6 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern/Noon Pacific Time. The webinar is free for League members and available to non-members for a fee.
