In Tuesday’s (11/12) Violin Channel, a report states, “The Juilliard School, in New York, has terminated the employment of violin pedagogue Li Lin, as of November 8, 2024. The termination comes after ‘an independent investigation into reported misconduct determined he violated the School’s policies and standards,’ a Juilliard representative explained to The Violin Channel. Li Lin has served as a Professor of Violin at The Juilliard School since 2014 and recently left a full studio of more than 30 current pre-college, undergraduate, and post-graduate students. He is a former faculty member at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he taught for more than two decades, and a teacher at The Perlman Music Program. Lin’s faculty profile, as of yesterday, has been removed from The Juilliard School and The Perlman Music Program’s websites. Born in Guang Zhou, China, Lin began playing the violin at the age of six. After graduating from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Eastman School of Music, he discovered his passion for teaching in his early 20s. His students have won top prizes at competitions … Many of his students have gone on to have very successful careers.”
