“The Lincoln Center Institute, Lincoln Center’s educational arm since 1975, has received a $4 million grant from the Sherman Fairchild Foundation to support a rebranding effort and new programs,” writes Robin Pogrebin in Wednesday’s (10/9) New York Times. “The grant—the largest that Lincoln Center’s education program has ever received—will provide support over a four-year period for changes, including the department’s name: it will now be called Lincoln Center Education. The nonprofit foundation focuses on higher education, visual and performing arts, and cultural institutions. This news was announced on Tuesday by Russell Granet, the executive director of Lincoln Center Education. The department plans to focus on K-12 arts education programs; higher education partnerships to train arts education teachers; outreach programs; a dedicated institute for arts education research; and an arts education consultancy.”
