Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, America’s longest-running festival of new orchestral music, celebrates rhythm and sound in its 61st season. Led by Grammy Award-winning Conductor Cristian Măcelaru, the Festival Orchestra will be joined by percussion soloists Beibei Wang, Svet Stoyanov, Matthew Strauss, and Colin Currie, bassist Xavier Foley, and violinist Eunice Kim, for works by 17 featured composers. The season includes world premiere commissions by Anna Clyne and Xavier Foley, a U.S. premiere, and nine West Coast premieres; a memorial tribute to Robert Hughes: and a performance by Kronos Quartet.
