The Portland Symphony Orchestra in Maine has appointed Liz Kane as director of artistic operations. Kane was most recently the orchestra personnel manager for the Seattle Symphony Orchestra in Washington. Prior to her role as orchestra personnel manager with the Seattle Symphony, Kane served as assistant to the orchestra’s vice president and general manager. Kane earned a Master of Arts Management degree at Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College School of Music. Kane interned with the Portland Symphony Orchestra in 2011. As director of artistic operations, Kane works closely with the music director and Artistic Planning Committee on season programming; functions as a liaison between the orchestra and the rest of the organization; and is responsible for carrying out many provisions in the musicians’ Collective Bargaining Agreement as well as following PSO’s strategic plan and goals.
