August 25, 2018 will mark the 100th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein’s birth. Centennial activities will include an array of concerts, festivals, and commemorations, and as plans get underway for these events the Leonard Bernstein Office in New York City is giving fans of the legendary conductor, composer, and humanitarian an early opportunity to participate. On November 14 the LBO launched a Leonard Bernstein Centennial Logo Contest, inviting adult residents of the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. to “create a unifying graphic element, to be featured in official publications, on the internet and at events leading up to and during the course of the Centennial year.” The winning contestant will be publicly announced in the spring of 2013 and rewarded with Sony Classical’s limited-edition 60-CD set of the complete symphonic recordings that Bernstein conducted as music director of the New York Philharmonic. Submissions must be received by midnight on January 31, 2013. More information on the logo contest can be found on the Boosey & Hawkes website.
