In Thursday’s (3/6) Variety (Los Angeles), Chris Willman writes, “The LA Philharmonic announced the full schedule for Walt Disney Concert Hall‘s 2025-26 season Thursday, including all the details for Gustavo Dudamel‘s final season directing the LA Phil … along with a variety of shows and guests in the realms of classical and popular music. The entire 10-month season for 2025-26 is being dubbed ‘Gracias Dudamel,’ in honor of the culmination of the famed conductor’s 17-year tenure leading the LA Phil. He will conduct the orchestra in 14 different programs from September … through June 2026, ‘including world premieres, explorations of some of the most monumental works in the symphonic repertoire, new additions to Dudamel’s innovative Pan-American Music Initiative and collaborations with outstanding guest artists such as Yo-Yo Ma and Yunchan Lim,’ the org said. Beyond the symphonic realm, concerts are set for artists including … singer Ledisi, classic rocker Boz Scaggs, Nicole Scherzinger, currently knocking them dead on Broadway in ‘Sunset Blvd.’, a holiday show by Arturo Sandoval … and the return of jazz legend Herbie Hancock.” In addition to classical scores, “the LA Phil will ultimately present 25 commissioned works … including 20 world premieres and three U.S. premieres, with two projects that feature original choreography and film.”
