An Associated Press story published in Wednesday’s (4/22) Denver Post states, “Facebook has reunited countless far-flung classmates and friends, but you might want to have a map handy for this story. The online social networking site helped a Switzerland-based artist manager who was vacationing in Israel track down a New York pianist performing in Colorado and book him for a concert in Colombia. Manager Jill Arbetter said in a phone interview Wednesday that the artist originally booked to play Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto in Bogota, Colombia [with the Bogota Filarmonica], this weekend had to cancel. … Then Arbetter remembered Jeffrey Biegel of New York, a Facebook friend she has never met in person. She heard a clip of him playing the concerto online but couldn’t find his phone number. Her husband suggested a Facebook message. Biegel got the message last Friday while performing in Colorado Springs and took the job.”
