Iowa’s Quad City Symphony Orchestra and Youth Symphony Orchestra announced that they have been awarded a week-long residency by violinist Midori in spring 2011. The visit is under the auspices of Midori’s Orchestra Residencies Program, a collaborative project begun in 2004 involving coachings, master classes, concerts, discussion groups with orchestra staff, meals with question-and-answer sessions, and events to raise arts awareness within the selected orchestra’s community. Midori has conducted previous residencies in Alaska, Minnesota, New Mexico, Vermont, Montana, South Dakota, North Carolina, and Des Moines, Iowa. During the 2008-09 season she led residencies at the Mobile Symphony Orchestra (Alabama) and the Elgin Symphony Orchestra and Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra (Illinois).
