Friday’s (3/13) Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal features the “Powershift 25,” a list of “newly minted top executives in the Twin Cities who have been chosen by their organizations to carry on the baton of growth, excellence and leadership.” Among them is Minnesota Orchestra President and CEO Isaac Thompson. Carter Jones writes, “Isaac Thompson became president and CEO of the Minnesota Orchestra in October, returning to his home state to lead the organization. He succeeded Brent Assink, who previously served as interim president and CEO. In the orchestra’s top administrative role, Thompson works closely with Music Director Thomas Søndergård on artistic planning and the concert calendar. Thompson oversees … an organization which reports annual revenue of around $45 million, according to Business Journal research. Thompson also plays a key role in efforts with music venue First Avenue and the city of Minneapolis to develop the Upper Harbor Terminal amphitheater project … Previously, Thompson served as president and CEO of the Oregon Symphony, where he increased revenue, diversified the board and launched a new fundraising campaign. Earlier, he held senior leadership roles at the New York Philharmonic … Thompson is on the boards of the League of American Orchestras and Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media.”
