Musicians of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra.

In Wednesday’s (10/8) Fox 10 (Mobile, Alabama), an unsigned report states, “The Mobile Symphony Orchestra is set to open its 2025-2026 season. ‘Metamorphosis’ will be a concert of classical favorites selected by the musicians themselves. Scott Speck is the [music] director of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra and has been with the MSO since 2000. He sat down with Lee Peck to talk about the upcoming concerts.” Speck:: “ ‘This incredible group of really talented artists, musicians, comes from not just around here but from all over the country and all around the world. We collect them together—I think of them as a jewel box—and they play together as if they have played together all their lives. They play with passion and with power and such strength that it can blow you against the back of your seat…. Every year, we ask the musicians for their wish list of what they’d like to play…. The musicians’ wishes are going to show up on the stage in a piece called ‘Symphonic Metamorphosis,’ which is one of the favorite pieces for orchestra musicians to play.’ ” The program includes Hindemith’s “Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber” and Brahms’s Symphony No. 1.
