On January 29 and 31, the National Symphony Orchestra will present an Emerging Conductors Workshop and Showcase, a series of workshops and a concert featuring the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) and emerging conductors Kellen Gray, Chia-Hsuan Lin, Kyle Ritenauer, and Sasha Scolnik-Brower under the mentorship of NSO Music Director Gianandrea Noseda. Over the course of two days, Noseda will work with the four young musicians who have built strong connections with the NSO as cover conductors, leading them through workshops and masterclasses in rehearsal with the orchestra. All events take place at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. In addition to workshops, January 29 events include a conversation about music director search processes with Henry Fogel, former president and CEO of the League of American Orchestras and president of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The Emerging Conductors Workshop will culminate in a free public concert with the NSO on Millennium Stage on January 31, 2025, featuring works by Brahms, Mozart, Dvořák, and Liszt—each led by one of the four conductors. The deadline for registering to attend the free event is Wednesday, January 22. Learn more and register here.
