The National Council on the Arts, the advisory body for the National Endowment for the Arts, will meet in Charleston and Huntington, West Virginia on June 28 and 29, 2018. The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History (WVDACH) is hosting the NEA and the council. The Friday, June 29 meeting, to include agency business as well as special presentations and performances, will be live streamed in its entirety 9:00 am to 11:30 am EST at https://www.arts.gov/event/2018/national-council-arts-june-2018-public-meeting-webcast. Holding the meeting in West Virginia—instead of Washington, D.C.— allows council members to meet local NEA grantees, arts organizations, and artists, and to see exhibitions and performances in Charleston. Among other activities, Thursday’s National Council on the Arts meeting will include a brief performance by the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra at Charleston’s Clay Center. The June 29 meeting of the National Council on the Arts will be webcast live and will include presentations by the West Virginia Symphony and other local arts groups.
