Jim Griffith has been appointed executive director of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival in New Mexico, effective October 1. He succeeds Amy Lam, who has served as interim executive director since June; Lam will continue in that position through September 30. Griffith is the founder, president, and CEO of the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in Fort Myers, Florida. The center offers a wide range of programs, attracts more than 200,000 visitors annually, and is home to a recording studio, music and visual arts school, and sculpture garden. Prior to that, Griffith, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, co-founded the Palm Beach Chamber Music Festival, Gulf Coast Music School, and New Arts Festival. A violinist, Griffith earned a bachelor’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music and a master’s degree at the Juilliard School, and he made his Carnegie Hall debut at age 20 as a member of the New York Virtuosi chamber orchestra. After returning to Florida, he performed as a member of the Naples Philharmonic from 1989 to 2022. This past summer was the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival’s 51st season, which featured more than 40 concerts; Marc Neikrug is the festival’s artistic director.
