Kevin Irving is the newly appointed executive director of Pennsylvania’s York Symphony Orchestra.
In Wednesday’s (10/1) York Dispatch (Pennsylvania), Catherine Rose writes, “A new executive director is leading the York Symphony Orchestra as it begins its 93rd season on Saturday. Kevin Irving took on the role in September, following a decades-long career in the arts, both on and off the stage … The York Symphony Orchestra’s mission, to ‘provide a wide variety of diverse live orchestral music and music education to the people of our region with a commitment to excellence,’ drew Irving here…. Irving started his career as a professional dancer and shifted into management when he became associate director at Nacho Duato’s Compañía Nacional de Danza in Spain. His international work also took him to Sweden, where he led the Gothenburg Opera Ballet. Irving then served as artistic director of the Oregon Ballet Theatre. He comes to York from his most recent post as executive director of the Portland Columbia Symphony in Oregon…. Irving wants to strengthen the [York] Symphony’s ties to the community and build relationships with audiences, musicians, board members and staff. That’s something Lawrence Golan, music director, has prioritized throughout his time with the York Symphony.”
