The Reno Philharmonic Association and the American Federation of Musicians Local 368 have announced a four-year contract for musicians, with wage increases and new service guarantees. The contract is effective July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2022. Per-service salaries will increase 3 percent each year of the contract. “I am extremely pleased with the process and the outcome,” said Board Chair Eric Gangloff. “The result reflects our confidence and excitement in the Reno Phil as we enter our 50th-anniversary year.” Chairing the musicians’ negotiating committee was Karen Stout-Gardner (cello), with committee members Peter Adlish (assistant principal horn), Bev Colgan (principal harp), Mary Ann Lazzari (flute), John Lenz (principal horn), and Cal Lewis (assistant principal second violin). In addition to Gangloff, also participating in the negotiations were Reno Musicians Union President John Shipley, President and CEO Tim Young, and board members Michael Hillerby, Mercedes de la Garza, and Angela White. Laura Jackson is music director of the Reno Philharmonic, which performs more than 30 concerts annually in the Reno-Tahoe region.
