In Friday’s (9/5) Patch (Northbrook, Illinois), Eric DeGrechie writes, “With one month to go for the start of its 46th season, the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of a new general manager. Robbie Ellis, who most recently worked for Chicago classical station WFMT, is now in the position. Known for hosting and producing ‘Introductions,’ WFMT’s weekly show featuring pre-college classical musicians from the Chicago area, Ellis has additionally served as the NSO’s pre-concert speaker since the beginning of the year. ‘I am delighted to manage the Northbrook Symphony,’ Ellis said. ‘Northbrook has a very fine orchestra, and I look forward to continuing my strong partnership with Maestro Mina Zikri and the Board of Directors with a bold new vision towards the NSO’s half-century.’ According to NSO, Ellis is also an accomplished composer, arranger, songwriter and pianist. He will be performing at the NSO’s Jan. 11, 2026 concert, orchestrating songs by Tom Lehrer and Alma Mahler as a curtain raiser to Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 (the ‘Titan’). The NSO will present its season-opening concert at the Sheely Center for the Performing Arts … on Oct. 5.”
