This month, the New Haven Symphony Orchestra in Connecticut is releasing Portrait of an Orchestra, a coffeetable book of black-and-white photographs of NHSO musicians by Cheever Tyler, a Connecticut-based photographer and philanthropist. Each image is accompanied by text written by musicians about the importance of music and the NHSO in their lives. The goal of the book is to break down barriers between musicians and the audience by highlighting musicians’ talents and interests as members of the Greater New Haven community. The book is available beginning on October 18 at the NHSO’s website, as well as at New Haven-area bookstores, including Barnes & Noble, R.J. Julia, and Atticus Bookstore & Cafe.
