The Oregon Symphony has appointed Jessica Lee as associate concertmaster and Harrison Linsey as principal oboe. They succeed Associate Concertmaster Peter Frajola and Principal Oboe Martin Hébert, who are retiring after long careers at the orchestra.
Violinist Jessica Lee will join the Oregon Symphony in the 2025-26 season as associate concertmaster. Lee was previously assistant concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra and goes to the Oregon Symphony from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she currently teaches full-time and serves as head of the Violin Department A Virginia native, Lee studied at the Curtis of Music and the Juilliard School, won the 2005 Concert Artists Guild International Competition and was featured in The Strad. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Houston, Richmond, and Grand Rapids symphonies, the Pilzen Philharmonic (Czech Republic), and the Malaysia Festival Orchestra. Lee has given recitals at Carnegie Hall, the Phillips Collection, and the Rudolfinum in Prague, and has played at venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie and the Concertgebouw. As a chamber musician, she toured with the Johannes Quartet and Musicians from Marlboro and has performed at major festivals.
Harrison Linsey will join the Oregon Symphony as principal oboe with the 2025-26 season. After three seasons with the San Diego Symphony, Linsey joined the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in 2018, where he is currently the acting assistant principal oboe. He performed Mozart’s Oboe Concerto with the NSO in September 2023 and recorded the world premiere of Christopher Tyler Nickel’s Bass Oboe Concerto. Beyond the NSO, Linsey has played with multiple orchestras, including guest principal roles with the Seattle, Detroit, and Pittsburgh symphonies, as well as engagements with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Linsey studied at the Juilliard School. As an educator, Linsey teaches students of all ages and is on the faculty at the Hidden Valley Music Seminars Oboe Masterclass in California. Each summer, he returns to Washington state as principal oboist of the Bellingham Festival of Music.
