The Cleveland Orchestra, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, and Philadelphia Orchestra are among the orchestras that have recently released recordings. The Cleveland Orchestra has a new CD of Mozart Piano Concerto Nos. 20 and 27, recorded live in Severance Hall in April 2010 with soloist Mitsuko Uchida serving as conductor. Also out from Cleveland are DVD recordings of Franz Welser-Möst leading Bruckner’s Symphony No. 8 and of Pierre Boulez leading the Adagio from Mahler’s Symphony No. 10 and Des Knaben Wunderhorn with mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kozená and baritone Christian Gerhaher. The Boulez/Mahler performances also were televised on May 1 on Cleveland station WVIZ, with a rebroadcast scheduled for May 7, plus a European airing set for May 15 on ORF TV. Tanya Tomkins, principal cellist of California’s Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, released a solo recording on the Avie label, featuring Bach’s Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello. Due out later this spring is a CD of harp concertos featuring Philadelphia Orchestra Principal Harpist Elizabeth Hainen, also on the Avie label.
