This year’s New York Philharmonic New Year’s Eve concert, One Singular Sensation: Celebrating Marvin Hamlisch, will be telecast live from Avery Fisher Hall on PBS’s Live from Lincoln Center at 8 p.m. ET. Paul Gemignani will conduct and Lonny Price will direct the performance; soprano and actress Audra McDonald, recently named as official host of Live from Lincoln Center, will host the proceedings. Among the musicians scheduled to perform repertoire from Hamlisch’s works for stage and film are Joshua Bell, Raúl Esparza, Michael Feinstein, Maria Friedman, Josh Groban, Megan Hilty, Kelli O’Hara, and Frederica von Stade. Marvin Hamlisch, who died on August 6, 2012, had been scheduled to host and conduct his second New Year’s Eve concert with the New York Philharmonic in 2012.
