“Vince Ford, VP of digital strategy and customer experience at the New York Philharmonic, will join the Curtis Institute of Music of February 1, signaling a major step forward in its commitment to media and technology as educational imperatives,” writes Sarah Shay in Wednesday’s (12/9) Musical America (subscription required). “With over 20 years of experience in digital engagement with performing arts, Ford joins the school as senior VP of digital strategy and innovation, executive director and creator of a new Performance Innovation Lab, and holder of the Field-McFadden Chair in Digital Studies. Philharmonic President Deborah Borda called the appointment ‘an inspired choice for Curtis,’ noting Ford’s ‘clear vision for using digital media to connect and deepen engagement between artists and audiences.’ Before joining the Philharmonic in 2007, Ford led commerce and digital marketing functions for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. He holds a doctorate in business from Temple University, an M.B.A. from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Georgia. ‘Curtis is well-positioned to be a champion of digital innovation across the field,’ said Ford in his comments.”
