The Omaha Symphony and middle school students from Omaha and the greater Nebraska area are participating in multiple workshops on October 24 and 25 at the Joslyn Art Museum and Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church through a partnership called Celebrate Creativity. More than 1,400 high school and middle school students will attend visual and performing arts workshops, on topics such as stage makeup, hip hop dancing, improve, musical theater, art classes, percussion, tae kwon do, animation, and more, led by local artists and professionals. Each day of Celebrate Creativity includes a 50-minute interactive performance by the Omaha Symphony in the Joslyn Art Museum’s Witherspoon Concert Hall, led by Associate Conductor Ian Passmore and featuring Interim Artistic Director of Nebraska Shakespeare Sarah Brown; violinist Emiliano Carrera, a senior at Bryan High School; and Omaha Symphony Principal Percussion Robert O’Brien, who is featured in Leroy Anderson’s The Typewriter.
