Tuesday (12/6) on the New York Times blog ArtsBeat, Daniel J. Wakin reports, “Pablo Heras-Casado will become the principal conductor of the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the ensemble said on Tuesday. Mr. Heras-Casado, a 34-year-old Spaniard, has been making guest appearances with major orchestras recently and is considered a rising talent. He will lead St. Luke’s in its handful of concerts at Carnegie Hall and at the Caramoor International Music Festival in Katonah, N.Y., as well as helping with programming, tours, recordings and commissions, the orchestra said in a statement. St. Luke’s has not had a fixed conductor since Donald Runnicles left in 2007.”
