“Back in May, Eric Jacobsen, 33, signed on as the music director of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. This month, he picks up his baton for the first time in that prestigious role, bringing a new, youthful energy to Orlando’s music scene,” writes Matthew Palm in Sunday’s (9/27) Orlando Sentinel (Florida). “Music has been part of his life as long as he can remember…. His brother Colin, four years older, was already playing violin when Jacobsen arrived on the scene…. With brother Colin and two friends, Jacobsen founded Brooklyn Rider, the well-regarded string quartet. He and Colin are co-artistic directors of The Knights, an innovative ensemble that mixes the intimacy of chamber music with the thrill of the orchestra…. The two live in a Brooklyn home that has been converted into separate apartments…. Jacobsen will be house hunting in Orlando with his fiancée, [singer/songwriter] Aoife O’Donovan.… He’s a big fan of Orlando’s burgeoning foodie scene….
