The Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra has announced details of a summer tour to the U.K., Netherlands, and the eastern United States. The tour will begin with five concerts from July 25 to 31 at the Ryedale Festival in northern England in a program featuring Handel’s Dixit Dominus with the National Youth Chamber Choir of Great Britain. Tour stops through August 17 will include performances at London’s St. Martin in the Fields, the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Norfolk Chamber Music Festival in Connecticut. Music Director Richard Egarr will perform a harpsichord recital, and a program featuring orchestral and vocal music by Handel will also include a new work, Ancestor, co-composed by PBO Composer in Residence Tarik O’Regan and Errollyn Wallen, set to text from original sources researched by countertenor Reginald Mobley that explore the creation myth. Violinist Rachel Podger, soprano Rowan Pierce, and countertenor Tim Mead will be featured soloists during the tour.
