Friday (8/17) on Sarasota Patch (Florida), Charles Schelle reports, “Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall is facing another canceled performance. The Pittsburgh Symphony announced Thursday that it has canceled its February 2013 tour of Florida including Miami, Sarasota, West Palm Beach and Gainesville. James Wilkinson, chief executive officer of the Pittsburgh Symphony, announced that the tour deficit and the inability to acquire sponsorship makes the tour impossible to perform. Bill Zlatos of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review reported that symphony officials have stated that the continual annual deficits means “…the PSO is facing the most critical challenge in recent history.” Orchestra subscribers who purchased tickets as part of their subscription will receive a refund, Van Wezel announced.”
