Esa-Pekka Salonen will be the centerpiece of a Deutsche Grammophon recording to be released on April 7, commemorating his tenure as music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, where he is now nearing the end of his final season. Salonen is both composer and conductor for the three works on the CD, featuring the Los Angeles Philharmonic: his Piano Concerto, with Yefim Bronfman; Helix; and Dichotomie. The CD release comes the same day as a live performance by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Salonen at Walt Disney Concert Hall of Salonen’s Floof in a program that also features world premieres by Fang Man, Erin Gee, Anna Clyne, and Enrico Chapela, and two days before the world premiere of Salonen’s Violin Concerto at Disney Hall, with Leila Josefowicz as soloist. The latter work is a co-commission between the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and New York City Ballet.
