In Friday’s (8/19) Pal-Item (Richmond, Indiana), Rachel E. Sheeley reports, “The Richmond Symphony Orchestra has met a challenge issued in April 2010 by Paul and Pat Lingle to raise $500,000. Symphony board president Connie Wooldridge said the organization has received $500,000 in donations, pledges and planned gifts, and by meeting the challenge will receive an additional $500,000 from the Lingles. Wooldridge made the announcement during a symphony press conference Thursday afternoon in Lingle Hall at Reid Hospital in Richmond. Meeting the Lingles’ challenge was one of several announcements made during the event. Wooldridge also noted the symphony is paying tribute to another generous couple, the late Marlowe and Patricia Kluter, by creating an endowed chair for the symphony’s concertmaster. The Kluters left the symphony 10 percent of their estimated $7.2 million estate. … The theme of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra’s 55th season is ‘Celebrate … Share … Soar!’ and symphony leaders used those topics to reflect the changes and improvements they are implementing. The most visible change will be the ‘rebranding’ of the symphony with a new logo and an updated website. The new logo features RSO written across a musical staff with a clef doubling as the “S” and Richmond Symphony Orchestra below.”
