In Friday’s (6/10) Cincinnati Enquirer, Janelle Gelfand reports, “The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra on Thursday named Robert McGrath as its new vice president and general manager. McGrath, 34, a native of Houston, is currently vice president and orchestra manager for the Saint Louis Symphony, a position he has held since 2006. He succeeds Janell Weinstock, who announced her retirement in January.” Gelfand notes that prior to his post in St. Louis, McGrath was general manager of the Louisville Orchestra. “He also held a post with Chicago’s Music of the Baroque, and participated in the Orchestra Management Fellowship Program with the League of American Orchestras (2000-01). McGrath studied bassoon at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.” In Cincinnati McGrath “will be general manager of the CSO and Cincinnati May Festival, which shares the orchestra’s administrative resources. He will oversee a multimillion dollar budget and lead the production department, which includes classical, pops and choral programming, concert production, recording, touring, education programs, the music library and the orchestra’s relationship with its musicians.”
