A joint education program launched two years as an equal partnership between Carnegie Hall and Canada’s Royal Conservatory will become the Royal Conservatory Development Program, with Royal Conservatory becoming solely responsible for the program. Carnegie Hall will focus on expanding its other national and international education programs, including the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America and the Link Up program. The Royal Conservatory Development Program uses the Toronto-based conservatory’s curriculum and exam system as the basis for a teaching program that establishes a national standard for musical achievement for private music students throughout the U.S., both children and adults. There are currently more than 4,000 teachers affiliated with the program, with more than 6,000 assessments taken by U.S. students last year. Royal Conservatory takes full ownership of the development program beginning with registration for the program’s spring 2013 assessment period.
