Sara Parkinson.

Colorado’s Longmont Symphony Orchestra has named Sara Parkinson as executive director, effective April 1, 2025. Parkinson previously served as executive director and director of education and community engagement for the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. She led the Boulder Philharmonic through the pandemic by achieving financial stability, strengthening donor and community relationships, and expanding fundraising efforts. She has performed consulting work with arts organizations across the state, including programs focused on music education and early childhood learning. Parkinson’s career as a collaborative pianist includes appearances with the Colorado Ballet, Colorado Symphony, Central City Opera, Boulder Opera, Colorado Music Festival, and many other groups throughout the region. She is a graduate of CU-Boulder College of Music (DMA) and New England Conservatory of Music (MM) and obtained her Bachelor of Music in her home state of Iowa.
